SITE FOR UNION CHURCH IN EC/LCON.
I have the honour to address the Government on the
subject of a permanent site for Union Church, Howloon. Negotiations on this subject began in 1922, and every effort was made to secure a spacious site near the present centre of English population but without success.
On the 15th September, 1924, the Hon. Colonial Secretary intimated that H. . the Governor was prepared to recommend to the Secretary of State for the Colonies the grant of a site of about one unl a half acres in Ha Tau Wei for the
On 18th March, purpose of erecting a Church, Hall and Manse. 1925, we were informed that approval had been given, and it was agreed to reserve the site for three years from the 11th May, 1925.
Meamhile & temporary site was granted for a temporary Place of Worship in Jordan Road, where now there is a strong Union Church, the membership being gathered from the surrounding noi ghbourhood.
As the term of the reservation, 11th May, 1928, is approaching, we have reviewed the whole situation afresh and have concluded that the Ma Tau Wei site is too far removed from the residences of the resent congregation and that to build
